View Article  Boxing Day

I survived Christmas and it was a lovely one shared with family. Right now I am sitting with a view of snow covered trees and dock overlooking a snowy and frozen river. It is completely silent with the exception of the keys I am typing. It is so beautiful outside.

Soon we will be snow shoeing - for me it will be the first time. I have taken pictures already so there will be plenty to post when I get back into the city.

It's Christmas Eve! I can hardly believe that it is the holidays already. But I am sure that I say that every year.

I am finding that the older I get the more stressed I get about the holidays. I think alot of it has to do with trying to accommodate families and trying to see friends etc etc and get everything done. Emotions tend to run alot higher as well. (I am positive that's not just me though!) Two of my horoscopes made a point of telling me that I will be "fighting" - I certainly hope not, so I will have to make sure to be on my best behaviour.

I finished all my Christmas shopping last weekend all in one go and had everything wrapped and under the tree by the evening. Did all the decorating and mailed cards out before that, so I was quite on the ball this year.

So wherever you may be today, tomorrow or this week and regardless of whether you celebrate Christmas, another holiday or nothing at all, enjoy the spirit of the season. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

The other day while Christmas shopping I decided to pick up Gwen Stefani's solo album Love Angel Music Baby (L.A.M.B).

I love Gwen and I love No Doubt, but not sure this is what I was expecting. Part of me thought it was a bit of a shameless plug for her clothing line and part of me thought she has no idea what to write or sing about (regardless of the other famous friends who have joined her on this album). Maybe she was feeling at a loss without her No DOubt bandmates? The lyrics are pretty weak (ok bad). The music all over the place and overall I found myself being reminded of Madonna (80's Madonna), Salt 'n' Peppa, New Order and even TLC at some points which really shouldn't be a bad thing. I had to play it a few times before it grew on me. (Granted, play anything enough and you begin to get used to it!) The first single is one of the stronger songs on this.

But I must admit, I do like the album (although there are a few tracks that I always seem to skip). I like it because it's fun and she's obviously having fun, and it's full of all that happy girlie fun fur and glitter type of stuff. In a nutshell, that is why I like the album because I like to be reminded of happy fun glitter girlie stuff.

I hope her next album is better. For now though, I will be content with this one. Call it my guilty pleasure.
